CI#75 what a vibrant and happy colour combination

Oh my goodness what a welcome sight- such a bright and cheerful colour combination, such a happy reprieve from a troubled world! I was so happy to create with these colours, they just made me happy working with them.  It also made me very happy to be working with a stamp set which is just so beautiful. I loved this set as soon as I saw it and it never disappoints, although it hasn't seen much ink lately. I started with some simple rows of colour  by repeat stamping the same image in a single colour- a different leaf for each tone. I actually don't own the Gorgeous Grape stamp pad - I know, gasp, horror! so to improvise I stamped with versamark on Gorgeous Grape cardstock and heat embossed the leaf and the sentiment with clear embossing powder- works a treat. I've stamped each of the leaf elements in their same colour on a separate sheet and cut them out to assemble in a little cluster. The two skeleton leaves got the texture treatment with the aid of a silic...

Social stamping to say Thankyou

Hi there, and welcome to another fun Saturday of Social Stamping, hosted by the gorgeous Kelly Kent. Kelly is in WA but she's assembled a group of stamping friends from all over, and this week's theme is "Thank You", and I am grateful to be able to connect with such lovely friends -together but apart as our new normal seems to be. I have many things to be thankful for. I am most grateful for my beautiful family. I am also thankful that I have a creative hobby to help relieve some worry and concern this week. We might all need more of that in the months to come- lucky I have a well stocked craft room ! I really enjoyed painting these flowers, mixing inks as I went. It was the wee hours of the morning when I couldn't sleep and it really relaxed me. The background piece is a watercolour wash with a mix of inks too, and it came up well with some highlight stamping before I ran it through the embossing folder. I've gone back to stitching with my...

Staying Connected Through Stamping- Hello

I was invited this week to join with some Stampin' Friends from all over Australia to stay connected through Social Stamping and to create a card with the theme "Hello". It came at just the right time and I'm very happy to participate. It's a crazy old time and there's no doubt that we need to stay connected, and what better way than with a little paper hug. I have not been crafting much lately but it did feel nice to produce a few cards, and I enjoyed using some of the Poppies Elements. Each Embellishment is the same, the poppies on two label shapes with some additional sprigs behind and tied with some twine. The sentiments are from Life is Grand, and Waterfront. I also sponged some of the white and silver paper from the foil Sale A Bration pack of DSP which you can earn for free until Mar 31. The inside sentiment is perfect for both. I hope you and your family stay well, and remember you're not stuck at home, you're safe at home. ...

CI #73 Sally's photo

The beautiful photo for CI#73 was taken at a property outside Longreach called Ernestina in June 2019 after some winter rain. It is a very rare display of so many flowers commonly called Lamb's tail (appropriate since it used to be sheep country) or Mulla Mulla or Cotton Bush, but properly known as Ptilotus exaltatus, P.nobilis, P. obovatus. We lived in Longreach for 4 years in the early 90's and Sally is a friend we made during that time. She has quite an eye for photography. The seasons since have been quite hard  and they have not had much of the recent rains. The longterm effects of living with drought are real and profound. I never cease to be amazed at the myriad of difficulties that primary producers live with that we take for granted in our urban lives, and the strength they need to keep going. Please keep all our drought stricken farmers in your thoughts and prayers. The drought is certainly not broken....  I made 2 different cards using these lovely colours and ...

Thoughtful Blooms and Twisted Easel Class Card Feb 2020

Last weekend I held a class making some fancy fold cards. The Twisted Easel is a super easy but very effective card and we decorated the front very simply using the Thoughtful Blooms stamp and the Small Bloom Punch- what a brilliant match - hard to go past a stamp and matching punch for easy results. We stamped 6 different colours of flowers, and did 2 different designs. This is the cards all finished. I'll share the dimension for the stand up z fold soon. There are plenty of online tutorials for creating a twisted easel.  I have done these before and the instructions are in this post from February 2016 I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz Product List Thoughtful Blooms Photopolymer Stamp Set (English) [ 152290 ] $0.00 Small Bloom Punch [ 152316 ] $0.00 Very Vanilla A4 Thick Cardstock [ 144238 ] $14.25 ...
