CTC1#201 Checking out the Catalogue Cover

Welcome back for CTC#201.  Having looked at all the "chapters" we're now examining the samples on the covers - front and back.

I was inspired by the card in the middle at the bottom of the front cover. Although I have to admit that it took me quite a few attempts to come up with a card I was happy with. All those layers got me a bit confused. I think I was trying to incorporate too many colours .

So in line with "Keeping It Simple" I think 2 tones works much better.

I do love Merry Merlot and Grey Granite together and the Champagne foil is always stunning.

To get a little more depth in my strip of DSP I used the flourish stamp and stamped over the top of the white striped side of DSP, and that is also how I created the strip for the inside decoration.

This would be easy to make multiples of now that I am happy with the design. How gorgeous is that reindeer.

Next on the hop this week is the fabulous Bec

and before me this week is Sandra

Don't forget we love to see what you create using the same inspiration pictures. Upload a picture of your project to our Facebook page.

I hope you have a creative week and remember,

"don't just post online,
 post something pretty!"

cheers, Liz

  2. It often is the initial design that is a challenge, even when we are using the catalogue for inspiration. Your card turned out great, and I like the colours too.

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are.
