Layering Leaves card classes, Embossed Leaves, simple but with impact

Using Layering Leaves I loved exploring different ways to create an impact with the leaf stamps. I liked both the Black embossing powder effect and the White embossed leaves. What's your preference? Both the sentiment and the leaves are embossed with black embossing powder . I love how glossy they are. And a square card is good for a different effect. Kraft cardstock is one of my favourites for its punch and presence. A simple strip of coordinating paper behind adds a touch of glamour. The white leaves were heat embossed and then I coloured in the leaves using a marker. The mat of patterned paper added a touch of mixed colour for a different look. I do love using up retired product with new product. I'm sure you have some in your stash which would work well with this layout. I call this the  Use your markers to flick a little touch of colour speckle to tie it all together. and no scrap gets left behind!!! a quick strip border with an edge of foil easily dresses up the inside, a

Layering Leaves #simplestamping#2

At my recent class we focused on the fabulous Layering Leaves stampset . I created several designs that used just the stampset, then some that also used the coordinating bough punch . We used a lot of blues. Each leaf sprig was stamped on a slightly different angle, and at slightly different heights to give a more organic feel to the image. The leaf "in-fill" stamp was stamped off a few times to give a really faint random image which added a subtle hint of colour and background texture. The same technique was applied to the next class card but in a larger panel for a different effect. The cute little "dottage" stamp was used to create the lower border. Playing around with the stamps to create a background panel I tried vertical and horizontal rows, with the images both upright and upside-down. I used pencil lines drawn 1 1/4" apart as a guide for the stems. Here's a few ideas Multiple rows also worked well And as an alternative I then stamped a flower image

More Mini Bendi Card Ideas from the archives

I have recently posted the instructions for the Mini Bendi card which I quite like making! You'll find detailed instructions on this post from February 2023 I just found some old photos of other samples which I had made but never shared on the blog so here they are. It might give you some ideas for other ways to try this great design. And of course the rainbow cards were lots of fun to make. The decorative border on the Bendi strip could be substituted with all sorts of alternatives.  I have also seen variations where flowers etc are adhered directly to this strip to make a stand up garden as an alternative idea. I hope you give this fun fold a try. I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz

Layering Leaves for a beautiful background, #simplestamping #1

For my Layering Leaves class I have been playing with both the Stampset on its own and together with the punch. #simplestamping is a concept where you just use stamps, ink and paper. It's a harder technique for me because I love lots of layers and I have the coordinating Bough Punch. And of course with the the Die cut and Emboss machine you can create endless detailed layers. It's good to go back to basics and explore the possibilities of using the stampset alone. I have a few cards where I created a large panel of background paper using the stamps in random patterns, or others where I used them in more ordered rows and stripes. I liked these the best. In cut these into smaller pieces and made them the focus of my card. Using each of the leaf sprig images I stamped in vertical rows using Berry Burst ink. For some interest I used Pool Party ink and the Leaf fill in image and randomly stamped over the top although it was stamped off for a less intense image. Finally I used the

Mini Bendi Cards with Countryside Inn Paper

As you know I love a Fancy Fold - who doesn't? And I love the Bendi card which is quite fun to make. We made these at a class recently using the beautiful  Countryside Inn DSP. The Blue and White papers are really versatile and easy to mix and match. I love the font in the Layering Leaves stampset , it adds a touch of elegance to any card, and there are sentiments for every occasion. The sweet little birthday cake is from the Circle Sayings Stampset  which comes bundled with the 2 3/8" circle punch which makes life really easy. I have detailed instructions on how to put these cards together from another post on 17 February 2023.  For a bit of added sparkle and some textural interest I painted the cupcake with Shimmery White Embossing Paste I hope you'll give this fancy fold a try, it's a lot of fun. I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz

CI#145 Gorgeously Made Easel Card

It's time for another play with some Colour INKspiration colours.  These are certainly vibrant and eye-catching together. I don't have Lemon Lime Twist - I must be one of the few demos who doesn't love it! Instead I have used Parakeet Party which is similar tone but more vibrant. I have created an easel card for  this project- one of my favourite card styles and you can see plenty on my page of Fancy Fold instructions above. (in the heading tabs across the top of the page it's the far right) https://shopperboard.com/Ocean/product/22186917 I have used the fabulous Gorgeously Made stampset and dies which is becoming a firm favourite for me. You can see some other cards we made in class recently here. I love how easily you can layer the images over each other for a quick artsy look, and the inside and envelope are easy to quickly dress up with your second and third generation stamping after you stamp the front of the card. I stamped the images then ran the whole piece thr

Bottled Happiness , what a fun set for a Shaker Card

The sweet Bottled Happiness is a two step stamp. I find it easiest to stamp the flowers first and then stamp the leaf image. We made this card in last week's card class.   We used this great stampset and the Vintage Bottle Punch and the gorgeous new Irridescent Shaker Circles with Lost Lagoon and Starry Sky on an Orchid Oasis and Gray Granite background. Quick and easy- and packs a wow factor- my kind of card. The Vintage Bottle Shaker Domes are really easy to use with their prefixed adhesive. I made this sample last year but don't think I ever got around to sharing it. For this one I used markers to add different colours to different flowers. A bit more time involved but just as fun. For more crafting ideas keep an eye on this blog and my Facdebook page. I love to share different ways to use these beautiful products I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz Product List Bottled Hap
