CI#158 Gorgeous colour palette to start 2024, with Notes of Nature.

What a glorious inspiration picture. Don't you just wish you were there. It is the start of a New Year,  and a good time to start off participating in more Colour INKspiration Challenges. I hope these gorgeous colours inspire you to get creative and share with us. Picture credit - Trigg Beach, Perth, WA -  https://www.instagram.com/p/BgjAffnFp7x For the start of the year I took a pretty laid back approach and simply sponged the four colours in layers using a blending brush.  I layered the ink directly on the beautiful Notes of Nature DSP with its gororgeous gold printed images. The gold really shines through. A simple sentiment stamped in Blueberry onto Pool Party which had some additional Pool Party Ink added to it. Add a gold foil diecut gold leaf from the coordinating set of dies and you have a simple, colourful card.  The Notes of Nature stampset is so easy to use to add interest to the inside panel and the envelope. I really loved stamping these colours to...

Accordion Fold - let the Paper be the Star of the Show

Stampin Up! produces such beautiful papers it is sometimes hard to cut them up.  But a good design that lets the paper shine is always fun. I created this card last year but didn't get around to sharing here - although I did have a reel on Instagram in March using one of last years Sale-A-Bration papers. So now I have both made and photographed this version. You can add elements to stand out on the folds, but I think the paper has enough interest to just let it shine - less is more , I think. This design works really well for full sheets with a design that spreads across the page. The Perennial Lavender has one of those sheets - and you can get two cards like this from each sheet. Trim your DSP to 14.3cm height x 10 inches long ( sorry I mix my measurements ) Score the DSP at 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 inches. Burnish the folds and glue the 2" panels to the inside of your folded cardbase - that's it. And this is last years design. I sent this to my Aunt for her birthday which is this ...

Painted Lavender - beautiful new set and first play

Well a New Year  brings a new set of stamps and tools to play with - and after a little break some new energy to create. I have had a lovely day in the craft room preparing for my upcoming class in February where we will be using the Painted Lavender stampset. This Split Front Card is an old card design but it was a fun way to use some of the beautiful new papers. The new products include some Paper Butterfly Elements which are white and so can be easily coloured to suit your project. I've used both Orchid Oasis and Starry Sky to colour this one. I have lots more ideas - just need some more time to play!! What's your favourite new products from the catalogue?  Do you need a copy of your own? I would be happy to send one, please contact me if you would like one. I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz

CI#157 Pastels and Brights for Christmas End of Year Challenge.

Well..... 2023 was...... a big year  and here it is 2024 already.   I've had a little de-tox from social media and cardmaking but thought now would be a good time to jump back in and share in this colour challenge. This is one of the four or five cards I created for Colour INKspiration challenges but never got around to photographing and sharing in 2023....   Definitely not a Christmas card , but the colour palette is so light and soft and lovely. picture credit  https://akailochiclife.com/218/11/diy-snow-dotted-cone-trees.html My card uses one of the new sets in the January Mini - Painted Lavender  -it is an image only set with no sentiments. I love it. We'll be using this in my February class. I used the Baby Wipe Technique and loaded Bubble Bath and Flirty Flamingo inks onto a babywipe and used that as my inkpad for the floral sprays.  I did add some more sparkle after I took the photo. The inside shows the beauty of the floral stem While this ...

Christmas Fancy Fold Class - Squash Fold Card

At a recent crafting weekend in Bundaberg we created this easy fancy fold. I'm not sure what it is called but it reminds me of a squash book, which I have made a long time ago - so I'm calling it a "Squash Fold Card" ! It is another card which is great for using up DSP - and since I have such a lot of paper we used some from this retired selection. The colours and the gorgeous shimmer had a Christmas feel to me but any paper works well.  Cutting instructions: Cardbase  4 1/4 x 11     score at 4 1/4 and 5 1/2.  The 1/14 panel is glued close like the spine of a book - when the card is open the inside space is 4 1/4 square DSP 4 1/8 x 5 1/4 then trim at 1 1/8 to give a square 4 1/8 x 4 1/8 and a piece 4 1/8 x 1 1/8 5 7/8 x 5 7/8 square Cardstock coloured - cut 2 squares 2 7/8 x 2 7/8 white      - cut 2 squares 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 To fold the "squash book"  choose which side you want to be the most visible, start with this face up. Fold valley folds in...

Lovely Layout #2, Easel card for Christmas

We were focusing on Fancy Folds for the recent Christmas card class and I used the same Lovely Layout #2 ( see this post ) but switched to the Joy of Christmas paper  and changed it to an easel card. I chose the Sweet Sorbet cardstock for a fresh take on the traditional Christmas red and green palette. This great layout uses 2 pieces of DSP - one 3 x 3 inches and one 4 x 2 inches. You can alternate which piece is forward and which is behind depending on the pattern on each piece and which one looks best as the feature. Add a stamped sentiment and a feature element to finish off your layout. I cut some gorgeous pine fronds and some holly leaves from some "painted" green paper in my stash. The holly leaves were cut from a sheet of watercolour paper which I coloured with both Shaded Spruce and Old Olive. I used the Magical Meadows dies . - it has quite a sharp holly leaf.  I also really love the stylised leaf and berry frond from the Sweet Sorbet ombre glimmer paper - so lusci...

Lovely Layout # 2 Christmas Cards, perfect for Beautiful Papers

This layout is perfect for quickly creating a stack of cards, which is just what we need at this busy time of year. Let the beauty of the paper do all the heavy lifting for you. This set uses the beautiful Winter Meadow DSP, and while Christmas in Australia has not an inkling of Winter I just love the colours. The Lost Lagoon cardstock picks up the colours nicely for the sentiment tags. Liz's  Lovely Layout #2 uses 2 pieces of DSP - one 3 x 3 inches and one 4 x 2 inches. You can alternate which piece is forward and which is behind depending on the pattern on each piece and which one looks best as the feature. Add a stamped sentiment and a feature element. When the card mat is also embossed it adds a nice layer of texture. I have used the gorgeous Winter Meadow 12 x 12 DSP and cut a stack of pieces then just mixed and matched which was in the foreground and which was in the rear.  The amazing Magical Meadow dies have some stunning detailed elements,  as well as dies that ...
