GDP#017 a colour combination with Flowering Fields

I'm so glad GDP is back online, the challenges are great and the inspiration team are all amazing. and a Colour Challenge is always a great way to start the year.
The beautiful set Flowering Fields is one of the fabulous sets available during Sale-A Bration.
It's available free with every $90 product order. I love it because the wildflowers  have an Australian look to them with a Waratah and Wattle images. This colour challenge however doesn't use a rich red or a yellow so I was happy to play along with the pink tones. I was also able to use another Sale-A Bration set for the sentiment, Perfect Pairings.


The flowering fields set is also great for collage stamping which I did on a strip of whisper white to create a highlight strip. This is a great option when you don't have and DSP in your colour tones. or you want some pattern which relates to your focal image. I will have more cards to show this technique in a future post, and in a class coming up soon.

Colour INKspiration#178 Happy Hibiscus

Happy Hibiscus is a new set in my collection and I needed to get it out and play with it, so this colour combination seemed like a good place to start.  Isn't the Inspiration picture amazing? I wish I was a better gardener and could grow these gorgeous treasures. But since that is not my skill I am happy to admire nature. I used the watercolour 100 paper and created two pieces of colour, one a range of dark and light Calypso Coral, and one a mix of Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive.  Once dry I was able to cut out the leaves and tiny flowers. I stamped the 3 large flowers over the watercolour and cut them out using the Hybrid Embossing Folder - It's so easy and super effective as it embosses and cuts in one pass creating some amazing depth for the blossoms. I love the leaf shapes and definition in these dies, just gorgeous. Lots of white seemed like a good way to let the colours shine, so a simple embosse...

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment.
