ANZAC Dawn scrapbooking, JAI #422

I have never been a scrapbooker but every now and then I have a go.
This beautiful photo means a lot to me.
The colours of dawn are beautiful. But the image calls me to remember the Courage, the Honour and the Sacrifice which represent the lives of so many, and which have been given for us that we may enjoy this life in this beautiful country.

The watercolour panel is painted with Real Red, Calypso Coral and Powder Pink, with a hint of Night of Navy at the top.
The white base has been coloured with Sahara Sand and a sponge roller, and I hope it has a slightly uneven feel to it, like sand in the desert. The embossing paste has been coloured with Sahara Sand ink and applied over the middle eastern looking mask. I figured the sand colour was appropriate.
I stamped the sentiment onto one of the labels from the Delightfully Detailed Memories and More pack as I loved the coral Watercolour effect. The font is quite lovely from Make a Difference.
And while the Amazing You (saleabration) stamp set is retired I thought the flower most resembled a poppy from all the flower images I have purchased over the years. The sunrays from that set also remind me of the Rising Sun Badge of the Australian Army.
The poppies are heat embossed with black and the rays with gold. It was very relaxing to paint all the poppies and they were then hand cut and placed as a field. One day I would like to go the fields of France to pay my respects.
One other subtle element is the compass N-S-E-W (from the retired Wherever You Go) which I have stamped in versamark only on background- to represent all the places in the world where Australians have served.
Lest We Forger is stamped in Navy onto Sahara Sand using Labeler Alphabet.

Thanks for looking today.
I enjoyed this challenge.
I hope your week has some time for creativity.

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are. I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz Product List Ornamental Envelopes Bundle [ 155168 ] $83.50 Envelopes  Dies [ 153531 ] $63.00 Shimmery White A4 Car
