CTC #218 Showing off the Painted Seasons

Hello again on this very fine Sunday and welcome back to CASEing the Catty.
This week we are CASEing the Sale A Bration products.

Stampin' Up! have recently released a second range of products for the remaining 4 weeks of this amazing promotion.
One of the bundles available as a level 2 product is the Painted Seasons bundle including the beautiful Stamp set and DSP

I fell in love with the Painted Seasons DistINKtive stamp set, and after my class yesterday a few more people have fallen in love with it too. It's so beautiful to use. The DSP which coordinates with it is also amazing.
Here's a few samples from the class display. We made the one on the right.

My class yesterday focused on Fancy Folds so I will be presenting you all with a few tutorials on Fancy Folds with simple stamping over the next few days. Be sure to have subscribed to "follow by email" on the right hand panel of this page to get all of the tutorials straight to your inbox for free.

The first card we made was a GATE FOLD CARD.
Here are a few samples using the gorgeous DSP and stamp set.

The GATE FOLD card is a simple card to make and is a standard size with an alternative opening. Each side of the card folds into the centre like a pair of gates. There are many many variations.
The gates can be held closed by an added embellishment if needed of you can secure the card with a belt or belly band.

Did you know that your metric scoring plate has the perfect score line for this?
To create a regular size card simply

  •  cut an A4 sheet in half horizontally
  • With the card sitting landscape in your Score Tool,  score at 5.25cm
  • Rotate the card 180 degrees and repeat
  • Fold along the score lines and burnish well with your bone folder so the gates stay shut
  • Adhere DSP strips 5cm x 14.2 cm to each gate front
  • Decorate a panel for the front feature. This one (the cake) is 7cm square with a 7.5cm mat
  • adhere only half of the panel to the left front gate
  • Rectangles also work well - and the stitched rectangles are perfect for this but you don't want anything wider than about 8cm
  • If you want a small keeper to hold the gate closed punch a 1" and a 3/4" circles and layer them together. ( You can see this in the first photo from the class display on the card on the right)
  • With your card closed adhere a single dimensional slightly to the right of the feature panel, pop the circles on top and slip the edge of the front panel under it to hold it closed. ( See detail in the last photo )
  • Decorate the inside panel as desired
An alternative closure is to use a belt or belly band with the feature attached. This second version uses the gorgeous flower and leaves from the Painted Seasons bundle and some vellum and ribbon. The large Foil circle is another Sale A Bration item. Instead of paper I have used 2 strips of Cardstock embossed with the beautiful Country Floral Dynamic Embossing Folder.

And since I was creating samples to show variations on a Gate Fold Card for the class I have this final option to share.
This is slightly different dimensions and I will share the instructions in a post tomorrow. It's a perfect way to show off the amazing paper - and it works for any DSP. I was inspired by the Artisan Jackie Aitken and her beautiful fussy cutting of these tiny images.

In the last few days they have released a third offering of products which you can earn for free with each purchase of $90 Australian. How wonderful that the Painted Seasons paper can now be earned as a single item. If you want the stamp set however it is still only available as a free item with a Purchase of $180. If you have any questions about any of these please contact me.
You can see the second release items here
Now it's time to see what the rest of the team have been creating. Hop along to see some amazing inspiration photos.  And don't forget we also love to see what you create. Post a photo of your project inspired by any SAB product to our Facebook group.
Next this week is Lauren

I hope you have a creative week and remember,

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are. I hope you have a creative week and remember,  "don't just post online,  post something pretty!" cheers, Liz Product List Ornamental Envelopes Bundle [ 155168 ] $83.50 Envelopes  Dies [ 153531 ] $63.00 Shimmery White A4 Car

Funky Folds Blog Hop= a Bay window card using Country Flowers

Well it's been a very long time since I participated in a blog hop - and it feels good to be participating in a FUNKY FOLDS hop. You may have come from Jan McQueen's creation, or you may be starting here. Be sure and hop all the way around. I do love Fancy Fold cards and of course with a new catalogue and new products it is fun to be creating again. I have a big weekend retreat coming up in a few weeks and we are using the Country Flowers Stamp set so I am creating a swag of samples. Since time is such a precious commodity for all of us I am using some old favourite folds with new products - a whole new lease on life. For this week's hop I am revisiting the Bay Window Card. The front tri-panel piece bends forward and tucks in behind the little anchor which is fixed to the inside. Your card will stand up unaided. This is it with the edge tucked under the anchor. You can find the measurements and instructions and several previous samples on these pages. Today's card featu

CTC#116 Inspired by Pages 20-31

Welcome back of another week of CTC. This week we are CASEing quite a big section of the catalogue-pages 20-31, which includes the Oh So Succulent suite. I love the succulent set but need a lot more time to play with it. (I'm sure you can all relate to that!) I also love little square notecards like the one on page 31, so I had a little play and this is what I came up with. This week I've done the step it up system again. This is a lot of fun and a process which can help you analyse your own style and how to adapt that for classes or workshops to appeal to a wider range of styles. This week I am stepping it up from simple stamping directly onto the notecard, then building on that with another colour, added layers and embellishments. Although the twine doesn't carry through from the base card it needed a little bit of black to tie them all together.
