We made cards with Simple Stamping and a Fancy Fold at my last class and I promised instructions on each. This is a variation on a Gate Fold and has lots of different names.
I made and taught this fold many years ago but it's always good to revisit techniques you've used in the past. At that time I referred to this card as a Flip and Fold from a video I saw back in 2014. You can see the original post (and the link to the video) here.
One of the reasons I love this fold is that is is a great way to use up some of that DSP I have been saving for a special occasion!
You will get 2 cards from one sheet of 12 x 12.

One of the reasons I love this fold is that is is a great way to use up some of that DSP I have been saving for a special occasion!
You will get 2 cards from one sheet of 12 x 12.
METRIC
- cut your DSP at 14.7cm for a standard Australian card and trim to 30cm
- be sure to have your paper orientated correctly so that any directional design in the print is facing the right way
- using your scoring tool score at 5cm, 10cm, 20cm, 25cm
- with your paper landscape make a mark at 7cm from the top on both right and left edges.
- cut the paper diagonally from the 7 cm mark on the side to the top of the 10cm score line. These triangles will be flipped over and glued to the bottom of each gate.
- fold each in a Z fold so that the folds meet in the middle
- stamp a sentiment and punch with a label punch
- punch/cut a solid background shape using the 2 1/2 " punch and adhere these to the left gate
- cut a mat 9.5cm x 14.2cm and adhere to the inside
IMPERIAL
- cut DSP 53/4" x 12"
- using your scoring tool score at 2", 4", 8" 10"
- make a mark 23'4" from the top on both edges
- cut inside mat from cardstock 33/4" x 51/2"
- make up as for metric version.
And here's another very old sample.
I really recommend trying this super effective fold., and I'd love to see what you create so send me a photo!
I do hope you have a creative week and remember,
