Well I know Christmas seems a long way away, but the new HOLIDAY Catalogue goes live this week and we are switching from the Annual Catalogue for our inspiration pages. I have purchased a few new lovely products so had a little play for this week's CASEing the Catty.
I don't think this card is not overly 'Christmasy' but it was fun to make and you can see a few new items.
I CASEd the card on the top right of the inspiration picture, it lends itself to so many applications.
You could use an embossed panel as they have done, or you could simply use a piece of DSP. The new Swirls and Curls embossing folder is really lovely. It is not a dynamic folder but it really has lots of texture. And I love folders that are a random design so it doesn't matter if your piece is not quite square when you run it through.
The focal piece could be a sentiment as in the catalogue or just an image as I've done here.
For this card I used the new "Feathers and Frost" set and I heat embossed the leaves using Gold Powder. I coloured the bird using blender pens, but I painted the leaves with an aquapainter and a blend of Granny Apple Green and Shaded Spruce inks. After I had painted them it still looked a bit sparse so I simply filled in the background with a wash of colour - next time I think I'll do it in reverse - create a wash in a square and stamp the leaves on top.
The berries I coloured with crumb cake but then I painted over the top with white craft ink.
I experimented with colouring the ribbon using the blender pens but in the end vanilla and gold looked the best.
I used the same technique and two of the leaf images in the set for inside, but the sentiment is stamped and punched using another new bundle- the Christmas Traditions Punch Box.
I'm sure I'll be using this layout again, it's so versatile. In fact I did a birthday card to demonstrate - it shows off some more of the gorgeous Frosted Floral DSP. This paper is too pretty to cover up, and needs to be displayed in big pieces on a card. I'm in love with the little candle embellishments.

Your watercolour washes are always so beautiful! I love this card, and it really could be used for any event! Stunning colours and use of white space!
