CI#50 Beautiful Beach Colours feb

Well Hello!
Welcome back to the Colour INKspiration bloghop. This week's colours are just absolutely stunning together. It took me a while to get started using them but they are so nice to use together.

I was intrigued by a technique I've never heard of before which Kelly described in the last challenge so I just HAD to go and get some glycerine for sponging. What a smooth and lovely effect this is. You need to
  • stamp your inkpad onto a clear block so you have a generous amount of ink to work into the sponge/ sponge dauber ( or use ink refill drops)
  • use  only a few drops of glycerine and work it into the sponge so that it is distributed evenly - I put a little puddle on a large clear block and used this as a palette
  • sponge from off the project onto your card as normal - small circular motions to cover the area, adding more colour for more depth as desired.
  • the smooth coverage is lovely and the effect is mesmerising- a bit like the ocean in the picture!
  • you need to store these sponge daubers separately ( airtight container) once they have glycerine in them and I wouldn't recommend using them directly on the inkpad as the glycerine might damage the inkpad.
I did that with Coastal Cabana as the background colour for my stamping after placing a punched out circle of paper as my mask on the vanilla card base. (-Terrible photo sorry but it's the only before shot I have). I started sponging on the mask and worked my way outwards to create a smooth patch of colour.
With my mask still in place I stamped the flowers and leaves from the gorgeous Painted Seasons Sale A Bration set. The little dots in mango were just the tiniest accent it needed.  You can earn this set as a bundle as a Level 2 Sale A Bration choice- ie free with a purchase of $180 of any product.

I have to confess I don't have the greatest success with masking and was disappointed that the flowers did not stamp very close to the edge of the mask. So to remedy the flaw I decided to make cover the fault with a circular frame and make it a shaker card, There are so many great sets of sequins at the moment so I simply piled them on top of my sentiment and glued the window in place.
I took a tip from Jackie Aitkin who is one of our team members and a Stampin' Up! Artisans this year. (ie super talented stamper!) and placed a thin bead of Multipurpose Liquid glue on the adhesive foam strips so that I had a little bit of wiggle room to get the frame in just the right spot. Great Success!!
And of course the inside is also decorated because I was having so much fun.
I did a few samples using these colours and stamps. This one didn't make it as a shaker but it still needed a frame. I quite like the little birdie and the timber heart with the sentiment, and the sequins added the mango touch for me.

Next this week is Monique

I know you will have fun with these colours, so after you have seen all the amazing inspriation projects in this hop get your inks out and create a card for the challenge. You simply need to take a photo and post it to our Facebook Page. We'd love to see what you create.

I hope you have a creative week and remember,

 post something pretty!"

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are. #Onstage Sydney 2022 Fancy Flora Suite , Display Stamping # 1 beginner, casual, avid samples

I'm so honoured to have been asked to present the premier suite "Fancy Flora" from the new Mini Catalogue - what a treat. ( Available January 5 - May 12023 ). This is one of a series of posts showing some of the projects I created using this suite. It's a long one so grab a cuppa and enjoy my tips and tricks and first projects. Relieved the presentation is over and with my samples on the board! Firstly I had the pleasure of showing the suite- 2 stampsets, 2 sets of dies, some 6x6 DSP, Shimmer Card, Ribbon and Gems. With every new set I allow myself plenty of time to just play with it and explore the possibilities in colour and layout. In doing this I create a series of Mood boards that make it much faster when I come to use the product to quickly identify how many dies in each set, how many stamps and which ones match the dies, and which ribbons and bling I have in my stash- or in the current catalogues that match the colours of the new suite. That way I don't for
