Colour INKspiration #83, Bumblebee patterns

Gosh it seems like ages since I blogged any creations- which doesn't mean I haven't been making cards- just that I have tried to stay away from the computer for a while. However it is always nice to share creations with others so I'm really looking forward to seeing what the team have been inspired to make using the photo as inspiration. Bumble Bee, Mossy Meadow, Black and White are our colours this week, all of them strong in their own right, so I wanted something with enough space to let them all not overpower each other.


I have recently opened my new Monogram Messages Stamp set and I love it, so I was happy to create a card inspired by the texture of the quilt and the angular shapes in the graphic. I used the Tag Tailor punch which is one of those tools that has been far more useful than I had imagined when I bought it. I was also drawn to the big green leaves but didn't follow that path this time.

It's very simple stamping and I just dressed it up with some wink of Stella. Most of the diamond shapes are adhered flat but I popped up a few of them randomly for some variation. I also love the little bit of texture embossing across the bottom- reminds me of the crochet rug in the picture.


This stamp set is really easy to use and very effective so I will have a few more samples to share tomorrow.

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. Colour INKspiration#178 Happy Hibiscus

Happy Hibiscus is a new set in my collection and I needed to get it out and play with it, so this colour combination seemed like a good place to start.  Isn't the Inspiration picture amazing? I wish I was a better gardener and could grow these gorgeous treasures. But since that is not my skill I am happy to admire nature. I used the watercolour 100 paper and created two pieces of colour, one a range of dark and light Calypso Coral, and one a mix of Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive.  Once dry I was able to cut out the leaves and tiny flowers. I stamped the 3 large flowers over the watercolour and cut them out using the Hybrid Embossing Folder - It's so easy and super effective as it embosses and cuts in one pass creating some amazing depth for the blossoms. I love the leaf shapes and definition in these dies, just gorgeous. Lots of white seemed like a good way to let the colours shine, so a simple embosse...
