August Card Class Bay Window Cards using Charming Floral and painting with Wink of Stella

I am so late sharing these projects as we have been super busy unpacking and setting up at home now that the renovations are finally finished. It feels so nice to be in - and to have my new craft room set up. I feel so very lucky.

We created 2 Bay Window cards during this class. You can find the easiest measurements and some other samples on this post from July 26

There were 3 different paper and colour combinations but the measurements and technique was the same for all of them.

To create the focal point we stamped and diecut the flowers from Charming Day. I press the inkpad onto a clear block to create a patch of coloured ink, then I pick up this colour with a small paintbrush and then colour the images being sure to leave some white space beside each of the lines to create depth. For a special sparkly effect I painted them using a Wink of Stella as the paint brush. (It doesn't show up very well in the photo but it is lovely). Once you have finished painting with each colour, you simply wipe the Wink of Stella on some scrap paper until it runs clear again, then move onto the next colour. Super simple, and very effective.

We used 3 different DSP background papers

1. Perennial Lavender. Colouring was with Gorgeous Grape and Lost Lagoon. I stamped the images in Gorgeous Grape also.

I like to paint the puter edges of each petal dark ( start here) and as the colour paints on the brush strokes become lighter. You can keep adding as much colour as you need until you are happy with the effect.

The inside had minimal sponging and some simple stamping for texture. Pretty Peacock and Silver foil made the "stopper" to hold the card open so it stands up.

2. Lovely Garden DSP coordinated with Secret Sky and Two Tone Misty Moonlight cardstock, and also Fresh Freesia for accents.

3. Celebratory Sips DSP coordinated with Mossy Meadow Two Tone cardstock and Berry Burst for the flowers - such a strong pink!!

The sentiments came from Mixed Labels which is a terrific all purpose set. Sadly, this is on the Last Chance list which is a good bargain but I'll be sorry to see this set go. Make sure you add it to your collection before it's gone.

The Bay Window cards are so easy and effective I hope you have a go at this design.

I will post the other cards from this class shortly which use the fabulous Sunflower Embossing Folder

I hope you have a creative week and remember,

"don't just post online,
 post something pretty!"
cheers, Liz

Colour INKspiration#178 Happy Hibiscus

Happy Hibiscus is a new set in my collection and I needed to get it out and play with it, so this colour combination seemed like a good place to start.  Isn't the Inspiration picture amazing? I wish I was a better gardener and could grow these gorgeous treasures. But since that is not my skill I am happy to admire nature. Picture credit - https://leahhopephotography.client-gallery.com/.../print... I used the watercolour 100 paper and created two pieces of colour, one a range of dark and light Calypso Coral, and one a mix of Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive.  Once dry I was able to cut out the leaves and tiny flowers. I stamped the 3 large flowers over the watercolour and cut them out using the Hybrid Embossing Folder - It's so easy and super effective as it embosses and cuts in one pass creating some amazing depth for the blossoms. I love the leaf shapes and definition in these dies, just gorgeous. Lots of white seemed like a good way to let the colours shine, so a simple embosse...

Envelope Dies perfect for an Acetate Tent card and some new DSP

After creating yesterday's cards I was on a roll and created this one using the beautiful Gilded Autumn DSP and the Fancy Phrases stamp set.  I really love the sentiments in this set.  It is such a simple design and easy to create. You can find all the directions on yesterday's post for Just Add Ink (JAI#518)  I watercoloured the white leaf after I had adhered the gold veins just to soften it, and I added a strip of mint DSP to the front of one of the tent stands as the white was a bit stark. That's the cool thing about this design, you can change it up plenty of ways. I'm sure we can all send these type of cards at the moment. I hope you are safe and well, and staying connected, wherever you are. We invite you to tour around the hop and to join in -after all the Catalogue has so many beautiful samples to inspire us all. If you get lost you'll find the full crew here . You may have arrived from Simone , so welcome. And this week we are really excited to welcome 3 new designers to the team, Krissy, Deb and Kelly  please do leave them a comment and welcome. This week we are using the samples from the Everyday Occasions section (which is a huge section) from pages 66-91. Because this is such a big section we will revisit it in a few weeks.  I have chosen the card on page 71 because I have always been attracted to grids.  I have used the gorgeous new By the Shore Designer Series paper, it has such a lovely fres...
