Going Backwards to Go Forwards - Wildflower Birthday Sliding Lock mechanism card

As part of my post renovation TIDY UP, I am finally finishing some old blog posts and sharing them with you -  I am calling it my "Going Backwards to Go Forwards" process. I hope you get a little bit of motivation and inspiration from these recent samples which I created and then forgot! I am keen to share them with you so I can start afresh.

The wonderful pre-printed tags and elements make creating this style of card very easy. I used one of the tags to create the sliding lock mechanism, and another to decorate the inside. 

The card closed with the tag slider in place to keep it closed.

The inside panel is decorated but is hidden behind the sliding lock when it is closed.

Lift the flap and there is more cheer inside- just punch out and stick the elements from the DSP paper pack.

The measurements and procedure are the same as for the other Sliding Lock stlye cards I have presented on this blog earlier in the year. You can find that blog post from June 2025 here.

New In colour 2025-2027 cards and the FABULOUS Extraordinary Flora Washi Tape.

Don't you love it when a single product creates enough elements to decorate a bunch of cards at one time? The Extraordinary Flora Washi tape is one of those products. I created these for my upcoming Catalogue Launch. I put the Washi onto Basic Beige to cut these flowers and love how it coordinates with the Basic Beige card base. To create these cards I trimmed 2.5cm from the front edge and adhered a 3.5cm strip of DSP to the inside of the card to give an added layer. These were easy to put together. Colour INKspiration#178 Happy Hibiscus

Happy Hibiscus is a new set in my collection and I needed to get it out and play with it, so this colour combination seemed like a good place to start.  Isn't the Inspiration picture amazing? I wish I was a better gardener and could grow these gorgeous treasures. But since that is not my skill I am happy to admire nature. I used the watercolour 100 paper and created two pieces of colour, one a range of dark and light Calypso Coral, and one a mix of Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive.  Once dry I was able to cut out the leaves and tiny flowers. I stamped the 3 large flowers over the watercolour and cut them out using the Hybrid Embossing Folder - It's so easy and super effective as it embosses and cuts in one pass creating some amazing depth for the blossoms. I love the leaf shapes and definition in these dies, just gorgeous. Lots of white seemed like a good way to let the colours shine, so a simple embosse...
