Sometimes the inspiration for a card comes from the stamps, and sometimes it's the Paper.The Botanical Gazette DSP is now retired but this card came together easily using the text paper as an inspiration. It reminded me of that old fashioned book style with drawings and illustrations aplenty. I created a strip of background images using the Night of Navy and the French Foliage Leaf and Text stamps, and used them also on the Crumb Cake piece to create the sentiment. The Label stamp is also retired but still useful with the Decorative Label punch behind it. I often die Seam binding to match my work by just scrunching the ribbon and mashing it into the ink pad surface - in this case Soft Suede. The Kindness matters images also fitted into the theme of this card and I cut one of the bees from another piece of DSP in the Botanical Gazette Set. Happy Hibiscus is a new set in my collection and I needed to get it out and play with it, so this colour combination seemed like a good place to start. Isn't the Inspiration picture amazing? I wish I was a better gardener and could grow these gorgeous treasures. But since that is not my skill I am happy to admire nature. I used the watercolour 100 paper and created two pieces of colour, one a range of dark and light Calypso Coral, and one a mix of Soft Sea Foam and Old Olive. Once dry I was able to cut out the leaves and tiny flowers. I stamped the 3 large flowers over the watercolour and cut them out using the Hybrid Embossing Folder - It's so easy and super effective as it embosses and cuts in one pass creating some amazing depth for the blossoms. I love the leaf shapes and definition in these dies, just gorgeous. Lots of white seemed like a good way to let the colours shine, so a simple embosse...
